Most Romantic Things to Do in Paris For Couples
Whether you love jaw-droppingly beautiful views or want to splurge on a fancy restaurant together, these are the most romantic places in Paris!
1. Having Champagne at the Top of the Eiffel Tower Sparks all the Romance in Paris
Take in the stunning views over Paris and sip some bubbly together at the Champagne Bar on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower! It makes for a wonderful date idea in Paris!
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most romantic spots in Paris, so sharing a glass of champagne at the top and taking in a lovely view is well worth it, especially on a special trip like an anniversary or honeymoon!
A must-see in Paris for lovers has to be the Wall of Love, or Mur des Je t’aime. This blue wall is located in the dreamy Montmartre neighborhood with “I love you” written in over 250 languages on it!
After spotting the phrase in your own language, be sure to get some photos and perhaps share a smooch together. Plus, as this is free to visit, it makes for one of the most romantic things to do in Paris on a budget!
PS- This place is also popular for proposals! So if you’re hoping to pop the question, this is a fantastic engagement spot in Paris!
3. Stroll the Streets of Montmartre- It Is One of the Most Romantic Places in Paris!
Montmartre is truly a wonder to walk around. From exploring the lovely Sacre-Coeur and taking in a stunning view over Paris to admiring the museums, galleries, and even a secret vineyard, Clos Montmartre, there is no shortage of ways to spend a day in this neighborhood with your love.
There are ample romantic things to do in Paris in the Montmartre neighborhood. Even just walking along the streets and finding tucked-away staircases and lovely alleys are enough to fill a day together in this arrondissement.
Les Deux Magots was once a favorite spot for artists and writers back in its day, but even today, it is the most picturesque little cafe that you’ll definitely want to go to with your love.
Indulge in the amazing ancient hot chocolate as you enjoy your French breakfast and admire the views of the Saint-Germain-des-Pres Abbey across the street. A peek inside this hidden gem of a church is well worth it too!
5. Book a Photo Shoot With a Travel Photographer
Whether you want to take surprise proposal photos, engagement photos, or just want a fun souvenir of your trip to Paris together, booking a professional photoshoot with a travel photographer is definitely a romantic thing to do in Paris!
Get amazing shots of iconic places in Paris with a professional photographer who will make you both look fantastic! Make amazing memories together that you’ll have for years to come!
6. Sipping Wine at a Wine Bar Is One of the Best Date Ideas in Paris
It is no secret that France is famous for its wine. So visiting a cozy wine bar in Paris where you can split a bottle of wine together is a great date idea in Paris!
Whether you enjoy an earthy Burgundian Pinot Noir or a delightfully refreshing Rose from Provence, nothing wraps up a romantic day in Paris like sharing a few laughs over a bottle of wine together.
Juveniles Wine Bar fits the bill perfectly if you are searching for a dreamy little spot with great food and an amazing selection of French wine.
7. One of the Most Romantic Things to Do in Paris at Night: Seine River Cruise
Paris during the day is a delight, but Paris at sunset is a dream. What better way to take in the evening scenery than a river cruise on the Seine?
Pass by many iconic sights in Paris as the sun goes down and top it off by potentially witnessing the glorious Eiffel Tower as it sparkles at night!
8. Wander the Sculpture Garden at Musee Rodin
If you are searching for unique things to do in Paris, then visiting this museum is perfect! While the Louvre and D’Orsay are always crowded, this little hidden gem museum in Paris is truly stunning.
Admire the sculptures in the garden outside, smell the fresh flowers in bloom, and take in the views from the inside of the museum itself as you wander from room to room and witness various pieces of Rodin’s work.
This is a very romantic museum in Paris as it feels like a little oasis in the middle of the city to enjoy!
9. Have a Picnic in a Park or Canal Saint-Martin For Romantic Things to Do in Paris for Couples
There are few things as charming or as romantic in Paris for couples as having a picnic somewhere. Lucky for you, there are several parks throughout the city to enjoy for the occasion.
Personally, I even find stopping by various boulangeries, patisseries, and other grocery stores for picnic supplies to be very fun and romantic as well!
However, once you’ve obtained your picnic lunches, head to a dreamy park such as Luxembourg Gardens, Tuileries Garden, or even more local parks like the Parc Monceau or Parc des Buttes-Chaumont for a lovely picnic.
If you’d prefer another great local spot, the Canal Saint-Martin is very charming for a picnic as well!
10. Taking in the City Views From a Rooftop Bar is One of the More Romantic Things to Do in Paris
While having a glass of champagne in the Eiffel Tower and admiring the views is pretty romantic, I personally like a view of Paris with the Eiffel Tower actually in it!
So for a romantic skyline view including the Eiffel Tower, head to a rooftop bar for a drink! Bar Perruche sits on top of the Printemps Haussmann shopping mall. The drinks here are a bit pricey, but the views are amazing!
It is definitely a great Paris date idea to grab a cocktail here and take in the incredible Parisian city views!
Formerly known as the “Love Lock Bridge” this was once the place where lovers sealed their love for each other by placing a lock on the bridge and throwing away the key.
Sadly, though, this started causing problems for the bridge as the weight of the locks became too much. So while you can no longer hang up a lock for your love, it is now a lovely bridge in Paris to take a selfie and share a kiss to honor the many lovers who’ve crossed this bridge.
12. Row to the Temple of Love For One of the Most Romantic Things to Do in Paris For Couples
There are actually two temples of love in the area, and three of these temples around Paris! The first, and most popular, is in Versailles. This one was commissioned by Marie Antoinette in the neoclassical structure to celebrate the love of the king and queen. It is a popular place for couples to share a kiss or even propose!
However, if you prefer not to head to Versailles, or you also want to visit the lesser-known Temple of Love, then head to Bois de Vincennes in the southeastern part of Paris. Located within Lac Daumesnil, you can either take the bridge or, preferably, a rowboat with your love to the island that contains this dreamy temple.
Oh, and the rowboats have names on them, so even better if you can find a boat with your lover’s name! There is even a grotto underneath the temple with swoon-worthy views as well.
There is also another popular one in the Buttes-Chaumont park atop a cliff with incredible views. This is known as Temple de la Sybille. So while not an actual temple of love, it looks similar to the other two temples and is worth a stop for a kiss!
Any of these temples are perfect for a romantic place to visit in Paris or even a proposal!
13. One of the Best Date Ideas in Paris Has to Be a Cooking Class
French food in general is sublime. And while you should definitely try some amazing food created by French chefs, why not up your kitchen game together and try your hand at French cooking yourselves?
If you are a couple that loves cooking, this is a fantastic date idea while in Paris! This full-day cooking class is a perfect way to spend a day together as you sip wine and learn about French cooking techniques from an expert.
This is definitely one of the most romantic things to do in Paris for couples!
And if you prefer something sweet instead, why not take this amazing macaron-making class?
14. Visiting the Musee de la Vie Romantique has to be One of the Most Romantic Things to Do in Paris for Couples
What could be more romantic in Paris for couples than the Museum of Romantic Life in the Montmartre neighborhood?
This place was once home to Dutch artist Ary Scheffer. He entertained many celebrities in his day at his home including George Sand, Eugene Delacroix, and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres.
The museum is full of pieces from his many house guests such as George Sand as well as portraits and other busts created by the artist and his contemporaries.
After exploring the small and dreamy museum, you’ll have to have tea in the courtyard for a romantic little date in Paris.
15. Watch the Eiffel Tower at Night
While I mentioned potentially seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night during a Seine river cruise, it is also one of the most romantic things in Paris to catch a sunset in the Champ de Mars park beside the Eiffel Tower and watch it light up at night.
Of course, you’ll also need to stick around and watch when it sparkles! It does this for the first 5 minutes of every hour from dusk until 11 pm! The lights are shut off at 11:45 pm.
Share some wine together in the park and cheers to the dreamy Eiffel Tower at night!
16. Strolling Hand in Hand Along the Seine is One of the Best Things to Do in Paris For Couples
Paris is a very walkable city. And one of the best places to take a stroll is along the Seine. You’ll spot vendors selling souvenirs and books in some parts of the city along the Seine, and if you take the pathway down to the waterfront, you’ll see little bars set up or even beaches in the summertime!
Take some time to stroll along the Seine together, taking in the sights and perhaps grabbing a drink at a little bar in the area to cool off after a day of exploring.
17. Dine at a Michelin-Starred Restaurant for a Romantic Paris Date Night
If you two are foodies, then dining at a nice, Michelin-starred restaurant is a perfect Paris date night idea.
This is definitely a splurge, so if this is a special trip for you all, especially for a France honeymoon, then this is a must!
Some great Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris include Arpege, Septime, Frenchie, and La Scene. There are several Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris, so you’re spoiled for choice.
And many tasting menus are under €200 per person. It is also cheaper if you go for lunch instead of dinner.
18. Visit the Enchanting Musée de l’Orangerie
If the romantic paintings of the impressionists are what you love, then a visit to the Musee de l’Orangerie is the best art museum and one of the most romantic things to do in Paris!
Enjoy the works of Matisse, Cezanne, or Picasso throughout the museum before becoming enchanted by the amazing rooms filled with Monet’s water lilies!
The paintings span along the wall in two oval rooms and show various perspectives and times of day.
This museum is one of my favorites and a must-visit almost every time I come to Paris! If you love art, then this is a great place to take your love!
19. Enjoy Romantic Events in Paris
Whether you visit during late November or December for the dreamy Christmas markets in Paris or you want to dance the night away during the Fete de la Musique, here are some annual romantic events in Paris to add to your calendar:
- Paris Christmas Markets (late November through most of December-dates and times vary by market)
- Fete de la Musique (June 21 every year)
- Bastille Day (July 14 every year)
- Bals des Pompiers (Fireman’s Ball- takes place July 13 and 14 in the evenings every year)
- Paris Plages (July through late August/early September)
- Paris Pride (June)
- Festival Paris l’Ete (July)
- Paris Jazz Festival (Weekends in the summer)
- Nuit Blanche (June)
- Salon du Chocolat (October)
- Fete des Vendanges (October)
20. Head to a Jazz Bar
Enjoy cozying up together at a jazz bar in the city. Places like 38 Riv Jazz Club, Le Caveau de la Huchette, or Chez Papa Jazz Club are great options to listen to romantic jazz as you sip cocktails together.
21. Enjoy a Night Out at a Cocktail Bar
There are ample cocktail bars and speakeasies around Paris to enjoy whether you’re staying in the Latin Quarter or Montmartre.
Sip hand-crafted creations in dim-lit bars as you chat about life and your amazing trip to Paris. Some great cocktail bars include Castor Club (my fave!), Little Red Door, Marlusse et Lapin, and Cocoön Cocktail Bar.
Make reservations in advance if they allow it- these places can be quite busy!
22. Head to Local Markets
Markets are honestly the best, and what could be better than wandering around, shopping for things to either create a picnic or make a romantic meal at your place if you have a kitchen during your stay?
Lovely markets to enjoy include the Bastille Market, Saxe-Breteuil Market, and the Rue Mouffetard Market Street, which is open Tuesday-Saturday.
23. Go Vintage Shopping
Whether you’re purchasing furniture, art, or vintage clothing, there are ample places to go vintage shopping together if that is your thing!
For browsing and potentially purchasing vintage art and trinkets, definitely head to the March aux Puces de Saint-Ouen. This place is huge with streets and alleyways full of shops selling anything from vintage China sets to paintings to furniture and more!
For some great vintage clothing shopping together, check out spots like Kiliwatch, Thank God I’m a VIP, Kilo Shop, Free ‘P’ Star, and more!
24. Find Each Other’s Signature Scent
We know that Paris has some fantastic perfume shops. And I love checking out Le Marais for great places to find the perfect perfume! Spend an afternoon searching for each other’s new signature scent at the many lovely perfumeries in Paris.
I absolutely loved my experience at Parle Moi de Parfum (which does unisex scents that smell delicious)! But there are plenty of other great shops like Dipytique, Sens Unique Perfume, Maison Jardins d’Ecrivains, Penhaligon’s, etc.
You can also take a perfume-making class at Le Musee du Parfum Fragonard near Palais Garnier.
25. Walk Along the Coulee-Verte
This is the former Vincennes railway line and is now a lovely green leafy path that stretches from the Viaduc des Arts and ends close by the Bois de Vincennes.
It even inspired NYC’s Highline! So stroll along this romantic 2.9-mile (4.7 km) path together for some great sights of Paris.
26. Explore the Woods Outside of Downtown Paris
There are tons of parks around the city of Paris, but a romantic thing to do for the day together has to be to explore the 2 wooded areas just outside of downtown.
Bois de Vincennes is located to the east of downtown, whereas Bois de Boulogne is to the west. Whether you want to run together, enjoy the various lakes, or just take a stroll and admire the scenery, you’ll love a visit to either of Paris’s woods.
27. Visit the Covered Passages of Paris
There are actually several quaint covered passageways around the city of Paris to explore together!
Some great ones to visit include Galerie Véro-Dodat, Galerie Vivienne, Passage des Panoramas, Passage Jouffroy, Cour du Commerce Saint-André (a partially covered passageway and the cutest little alley with restaurants and bars), and more!
28. Have an Outdoor Movie Date Night in Paris
Located in La Villette during the months of July and August, you can watch free movies outside! Enjoy French and international films together as you set up a picnic, watch a sunset beforehand, and relax!
29. Explore More of Paris’s Smaller Museums
While the larger and more popular museums are popular for a reason in Paris, they can be quite crowded. Not really a great place for romance!
There are some fantastic little museums around the city that aren’t crowded at all-making for a really fun afternoon date in Paris.
Some of my favorites include Musee Delacroix, Musee Gustave Moreau, and Maison Victor Hugo.
30. Spend a Day at the Jardin des Plantes
You could honestly spend most of the day at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. This place has so much to offer including various gardens like the Garden of Useful Plants, Alpine Garden, Rose and Rock Garden, the Iris and Perennials Garden, and more!
Aside from these lovely gardens, there are greenhouses showcasing anything from tropical plants to arid plants and even historical plants. There is even a little zoo to explore as well as the Natural History Museum.
Lovers of nature will definitely enjoy a day exploring the Jardin des Plantes.
31. Dance Together Along the Seine
Want to learn to tango together or just dance the evening away? On beautiful evenings, you may just see couples dancing together in the mini amphitheaters along the Seine around the 5th arrondissement.
The music is also so lovely, and you’ll spot couples of all ages on the dance floor. So grab your partner and have a fun evening dancing along the Seine!
32. Take a Day Trip to a Romantic Locale
There are several day trips you can take from Paris! So after spending a few days in Paris, it is a great idea to get out and explore more of France together.
Sometimes the perfect romantic thing to do in Paris is getting out into the countryside! My favorite day trip from Paris is a visit to the Loire Valley.
There are lovely chateaux and wineries to visit all around you in the Loire Valley, and what could be more romantic than castles and wine? This is the tour we went on during our last trip that included visits to 2 castles and a wine tasting.
Another iconic tour from Paris is to Mont Saint Michel in Normandy. This is a dreamy tidal island with a stunning abbey at the top. The place is too beautiful for words and a great place to take your love in France.
If you prefer to stick closer to town, then visiting Versailles is also a perfect idea.
33. Staying in a Hotel With Eiffel Tower Views is Definitely One of the More Romantic Things to Do in Paris for Couples
Staying in a room with a view is easily one of the most romantic things you can do in Paris! And if you have a view of the Eiffel Tower, then you’re in for a real treat!
There are plenty of hotels that offer Eiffel Tower views. Here are a few for your budget:
Budget: Hotel Relais Bosquet
This place offers rooms with views of the Eiffel Tower and is within a short walk of the tower itself! Enjoy the eateries nearby and cozy rooms at this hotel.
Mid-Range: Hotel Gustave
This charming boutique hotel has impressive views of the Eiffel Tower and is within walking distance of that as well as the Seine.
Luxury: Shangri-La Paris
For jaw-dropping views of the Eiffel Tower from your bedroom, plus a Michelin-star restaurant, it is a splurge, but worth it for a special trip!
PS- Be sure to request or make sure that you book a room with an Eiffel Tower view beforehand as not all rooms at these hotels have that view.
These are the most romantic things to do in Paris for couples from strolling to romantic parts of the city to enjoying amazing experiences together.
Paris truly is a romantic city through and through. A stay in this city makes for an unforgettable trip for couples whether it is your first time or 100th visit to Paris!

Next best thing? Take a flight CGD direct to Pisa and go to the Capitolare Tower in Portovenere. It is like an ancient Eifel tower but older
That’s awesome, and a great idea if you’re visiting Italy!
